Tuesday Sector Laggards: Services, Technology & Communications

In afternoon trading on Tuesday, Services stocks are the worst performing sector, showing a 1.0% loss. Within that group, Lennar Corp (Symbol: LEN) and Horton Inc (Symbol: DHI) are two of the day’s laggards, showing a loss of 5.7% and 4.1%, respectively. Among the largest ETFs , one ETF closely following services stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Services ETF (Symbol: IYC), which is down 0.5% on the day, and up 19.93% year-to-date. Lennar Corp, meanwhile, is up 24.04% year-to-date, and Horton Inc is up 23.34% year-to-date.

The next worst performing sector is the Technology & Communications sector, showing a 0.9% loss. Among large Technology & Communications stocks, Adobe Inc (Symbol: ADBE) and Microsoft Corporation (Symbol: MSFT) are the most notable, showing a loss of 3.7% and 2.9%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Technology & Communications stocks is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF ( XLK ), which is down 1.3% in midday trading, and up 25.75% on a year-to-date basis. Adobe Inc, meanwhile, is up 27.63% year-to-date, and Microsoft Corporation is up 32.69% year-to-date. Combined, ADBE and MSFT make up approximately 22.4% of the underlying holdings of XLK.
