Wednesday Sector Leaders: Technology & Communications, Consumer Products

In afternoon trading on Wednesday, Technology & Communications stocks are the best performing sector, up 1.3%. Within the sector, Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (Symbol: TTWO) and Alphabet Inc (Symbol: GOOGL) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 4.9% and 4.3%, respectively. Among technology ETFs , one ETF following the sector is the Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLK), which is up 1.3% on the day, and up 22.14% year-to-date. Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., meanwhile, is up 5.54% year-to-date, and Alphabet Inc is up 12.31% year-to-date.

The next best performing sector is the Consumer Products sector, higher by 0.8%. Among large Consumer Products stocks, Coty, Inc. (Symbol: COTY) and Newell Brands Inc (Symbol: NWL) are the most notable, showing a gain of 4.9% and 2.2%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Consumer Products stocks is the iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF ( IYK ), which is up 0.9% in midday trading, and up 14.55% on a year-to-date basis. Coty, Inc., meanwhile, is up 95.66% year-to-date, and Newell Brands Inc, is down 14.77% year-to-date. Combined, COTY and NWL make up approximately 0.6% of the underlying holdings of IYK.
