(Reuters) – Exchange operator Cboe Global Markets (CBOE.Z) said on Tuesday it plans to reopen its options trading floor in Chicago on June 8, more than two months after the coronavirus outbreak forced it to move to all-electronic trading.

The move comes close on the heels of the New York Stock Exchange marking the partial reopening of its trading floor, which had been closed since March 23 due to the coronavirus, earlier in the day.

Cboe said on Tuesday it expects about 50% of the trading floor participants to return on June 8 and would introduce several safety protocols, including changing the trading floor layout to allow for social distancing.

Earlier this month, Chief Executive Officer Ed Tilly said Cboe would be ready to reopen the options trading floor as of June 1, adding that since the floor closure, it has been more difficult for customers to get complex options trades done.
